Water sports & lagoon activities

Jet ski, parasailing, kayaking, paddleboarding and more.

Good to know

  • Most resorts include non-motorised gear (kayaks, paddleboards, snorkel sets) free of charge.
  • Motorised activities like jet ski safaris are guided and beginner-friendly.
  • Mornings offer the calmest, flattest water.

Bora Bora jet ski tours: what to expect

A Bora Bora jet ski tour is a guided convoy, not a free rental. You follow a guide around part of the lagoon with stops along the way. One 2026 listing for Moana Adventure Tours, for example, includes a stop on a private motu for a coconut-opening demonstration and an optional swim. Here's how it typically works:

  • Price is per jet ski, not per person. Two people share a ski (a driver and a passenger), so a couple pays one fee of about $280–330 for roughly two hours on the water.
  • No license needed. On that tour, drivers must be 16 or older. Younger riders go as passengers with an adult, and the listing sets the passenger minimum at 11. An adult signs a waiver.
  • Pickup is usually included, by boat from the motu resorts or by van on the main island. Cruise passengers can meet at the Vaitape pier.
  • Weather matters. Tours are cancelled in rough conditions. That operator offers a free reschedule or refund when it happens. Book early in your stay so you have backup days.

Bora Bora parasailing: height, ages and weight limits

Parasailing launches from the back of a boat in the lagoon, and the flight is short. Bora Bora Lagoon Parasail, based near Matira Point, lists a 15-minute flight on 100 meters of rope, reaching about 50 meters high. The whole outing takes about 1 hour 15 minutes, including the boat ride. Longer-rope packages go higher, up to about 150 meters with some operators.

  • You can fly solo, as a pair or as a trio. Pricing is per flight, from about $280–290 (October 2026).
  • That operator accepts flyers from age 5. The weight limit is 150 kg (330 lb) per person and 245 kg (550 lb) combined, wind permitting.
  • Only people who are flying ride on the boat, so non-flyers wait ashore.
  • A GoPro video of your flight costs extra (7,500 XPF with that operator).

Tips for booking water sports in Bora Bora

  • Use your resort's free kayaks and paddleboards first. Some 2026 packages, such as The Westin's, list complimentary non-motorized water sports.
  • Book motorized activities for the morning, when the lagoon is usually calmest.
  • Bring a waterproof pouch or dry bag for your phone, and wear a rash guard. There's little shade out on the lagoon.
  • Stay away from the Popora Rāhui reserve on the reef south of Matira. Motorboats and water activities are banned there.
