The Westin Bora Bora Resort & Spa opened in September 2024 after a complete renovation and rebrand of the former Le Méridien Bora Bora. It sits on a motu across the lagoon from the main island, with views toward Mount Otemanu.
Rooms
Most of the 142 accommodations are overwater: 128 overwater bungalows, many with a private plunge pool, plus 14 family-friendly beach bungalows. Rooms start at about 41 square meters (441 square feet).
Dining & amenities
Dining includes Tipanier (all-day Polynesian bistro), Maere (the signature restaurant) and Varavara (beachfront), plus Te Ava, the swim-up bar at what the resort bills as the island's largest infinity pool. The resort also has the Heavenly Spa by Westin, a dive center, and the Eco Center, a sea-turtle conservation program guests can visit.
From Le Méridien Bora Bora to The Westin Bora Bora Resort & Spa
If you remember Le Méridien Bora Bora, this is the same motu and lagoon setting under a new name. Le Méridien closed during the pandemic and was rebranded to Marriott's Westin flag. It reopened in September 2024 as The Westin Bora Bora Resort & Spa, the island's first new resort opening since 2017. The renovation overhauled the bungalows, restaurants and spa and added new landscaping with dozens of new plant species. Older reviews and photos tagged "Le Méridien" no longer reflect the rooms or dining.
Westin Bora Bora overwater bungalows: views and plunge pools
Every bungalow and villa looks out on the lagoon, the main island or Mount Otemanu, but the view you get depends on the category. The Premium Otemanu Overwater bungalows are the ones to book for the mountain. A 2025 review of one measured about 613 sq ft (57 m²), with an infinity plunge pool. On land, the Plunge Pool Beach Villas line a sandy stretch and suit families with small children who shouldn't be near open decks. The entry overwater rooms are labeled with an island view rather than Otemanu. If the mountain is the reason you're going, pay for the upgrade.
Dining, bars and the Heavenly Spa at Westin Bora Bora
- Tipanier – breakfast and dinner, with a weekly Polynesian show buffet.
- Maere – fine-dining tasting menu that changes nightly.
- Varavara – thatched-roof lunch and dinner spot with Otemanu views.
- Te Ava – bar at the main infinity pool, which has six cabanas.
- Honu Tiki – beach bar.
- 'O'A – upstairs bar with rum tastings.
The Heavenly Spa has waterfront treatment rooms and its own lagoon-facing infinity pool. A 60-minute massage cost about $253 in 2025. Guests can tour the Eco Center, which cares for injured sea turtles. See our Turtle Eco Center visit notes.
Westin Bora Bora price, resort fee and transfers
Rates generally run about $1,000–3,000 a night. The busiest months (May–October and late December) push the overwater categories to the top of that range. Watch for the daily resort fee. When The Points Guy reviewed the resort in 2025, it was about $106 a night and was charged on award stays too. In return it covered round-trip airport and main-island boat transfers for up to two guests. Confirm the current amount when you book. Some Air Tahiti Nui packages also bundle dinners and transfers.
The resort boat from Bora Bora Airport takes about 15 minutes. Marriott Bonvoy members can redeem points here, but award prices are dynamic and rise in high season. Compare it with the Four Seasons and other options on our overwater bungalow guide.
Who the Westin Bora Bora suits
The Westin is a good fit for couples and families who want a full-service overwater stay with lots of dining choice, a big shared pool and a resort-run turtle program. It usually costs less than the Four Seasons or St. Regis. It is less suited to travelers who want to wander into Vaitape for dinner every night. Like the other motu resorts, every trip to the main island means a boat ride, so check the shuttle times before you plan evenings out.
More questions
Is the Westin Bora Bora the same as Le Méridien Bora Bora?
It is the same resort site, renovated and rebranded. Le Méridien Bora Bora no longer operates, and bookings now go through Marriott under The Westin Bora Bora Resort & Spa name.
